Peaced Out Lo-Fi

from Every Day Vol.5 by grillo

about

This is a frankenstein track made up of many different bits spliced together. Some parts have been processed whole through an OTO Biscuit and they sound super grimy, other parts a bit cleaner but it's still very lo-fi. The OTO Biscuit is an 8-bit effects unit that just destroys sounds, it's very difficult to use sparingly, that's why I love it but I also hate it you know? Lo-Fi of course now means exactly a certain kind of chill style beats and this is not really in that vein since it's a lot more percussive, has a lot of synth sounds and a driving bassline, but how are we supposed to talk about music that's been recorded and mixed like this, with a low-fidelity aesthetic like noise, bitcrushing, phasing, all that stuff?
